Technically challenged

I was all excited to finally post pictures of my many recent adventures (Topsfield Fair, Tufts 10K, Philadelphia, NYC), but alas, I can’t figure out how to do it.  The amusing part, of course, is that I’ve previously posted pictures without any difficulty, so I have no idea why it’s not working now.  If anyone has any words of wisdom about how I can post pictures directly from Picasa without having to upload them and thus waste precious website space, please let me know.  Hint, hint, Eddie.

Since I have no pictures to offer, you will have to be bored by my stories.  Eddie and I had a great time on our road trip to Philadelphia and NYC.  We did a bunch of historical things in Philly like see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall.  Of course, another main focus of our trip was eating and drinking.  We both loved the Reading Terminal Market which is like a very fancy Quincy Market staffed partly by the Amish.  Although the historical stuff was cool, my favorite part of Philly was the Mutter Museum, which was a very strange medical museum.  I highly recommend it.

Alas, I need to concentrate on sending the Red Sox good karma right now, so the rest of this post will have to wait.

Vacation

I started two weeks of vacation on Wednesday and so far it’s going quite well.  On Wednesday, I picked up my mom downtown after she’d had some tests done on her knee and then drove her home to Sudbury.  I spent the afternoon there cleaning out my childhood bedroom.  Who knew I had the ability to hoard so many useless things?

Wednesday evening, Eddie and I both did a tempo run and then headed over to Cambridge Common to watch the Sox crush the Angels.  We had a very nice time.  :)

Thursday I met the plumbers who came by to service our boiler.  They were from Hub Plumbing, and they were excellent.  Not that I really know much about boilers, but the plumbers spent quite a while teaching me and showing me how everything worked.  I highly recommend them!

Thursday afternoon I went to a meeting for work and then went for another run with Eddie down the bike path.  I really enjoy running on the bike path.  Partly because it’s flat :) , but also because it’s very pretty with a good running surface.

Today I’ve done pretty much nothing.  I woke up late and then went to a delicious lunch at Namaskar with Eddie.  If you’ve never been there, I highly recommend it.  They have wonderful, spicy Indian food.  After over indulging at their buffet, I went for a long bike ride around Somerville, Medford and Cambridge.  When I got back, I stopped by Pier 1 Imports in my constant quest to find a new dining room table and bedroom set before heading over to Liquor World and the grocery store to pick up supplies for tonight’s Red Sox game.  I just finished baking chocolate chip cookies and now I’m watching Rear Window, one of my favorite movies.

This weekend we’re heading over the Topsfield Fair, which is one of my favorite fall activities.  I love all the horrible food and silly displays.  I think I’ve been every year since I was in 4th or 5th grade.  I used to spend a ton of money (or rather a ton of my parents’ money) on games and rides, but now I just enjoy looking at everything.  I can’t wait to see the giant pumpkin, the baby pigs, Peterson’s working border collies, the State Police K-9 unit, and a million other things!

Monday I’m running in the Tufts Health Plan 10K, which should be both exhausting and fun.  It’s my first 10K so I’m guaranteed to set a PR.  :)
